The Benefits of Reading For Children and Adults
By admin. Filed in Info Library |It is really sad that in the 21st century a vast amount of children are leaving school unable to read properly or without the patience to sit with a book. Books open the mind to wonderful worlds of imagination. They also teach social skills and are beneficial in extending a persons knowledge of subjects worldwide.
Children should be introduced to books before they are capable of reading. By doing this and sitting to read with a child, the relationship between reader and listener will be strengthened. Dads are probably busy during the day but if they can spare 30mins in an evening to read to their children then the daddy/child bond will be built stronger.
Reading from an early age brings lots of knowledge to a child and helps him/her have a better understanding of life. All the fairy stories have a message to give to children. They can learn compassion and respect plus adding to many life skills the child will need to face this uncertain world. As soon as possible a child should be introduced to a local library. It cannot be stressed to much that a love of books can help guide a child from infant to junior to senior and on to becoming a socialised, respectful, loving adult with a vast amount of knowledge.
Not only children should be reading; Adults can find new doors opening, new facts harvested etc. This, in turn, enhances life and supplies topics of interesting conversation. Visiting the local library can also open the door to meeting new people and hobbies. Disabled and the blind can find their days enriched with hundreds of talking books on the market. These are also available at the local library.
When I was a child my books were my best friend. I doubt very much that I would be the person I am today without the vast amount of reading I did. This didn’t make me academically clever but taught me compassion and care for people and animals. Respect for those older than myself, (not many of them about now) and gave me a love for unusual facts which, in turn, made my social life more interesting. There is always something to talk about when you are a reader.
Reading can also bring out a child’s writing talents and who knows your child may become a budding author because of the time you spent reading to him/her. What a dull world this would be without books.
